Ashram visit 8

Today, on

ly myself and Meghan came to the Ashram, and there were four kids. So we decided to teach two at one time. Sandeep and Bhushan came to me and wanted to study mathematics. We started with polynomials. I briefed them about what are polynomials. It took some time to clear out their doubts. But we did it however. We solved various problems and revised it two or three times. I insisted them to practice the problems after I leave. We decided that, next week we will continue the same topic.

The World Map 4

Now we have slowly moved on to painting countries. Muktanand sir bought a map which has all the colored countries. We decided to follow that map. And began painting. To have all the colors, we actually had to do a lot of mixing of colors and that was very interesting and new. We were half wy through and could imagine the final result. Every person who passed by stopped once and gazed the color
ful creation and appreciated us. That kept us motivated all the time.

The World Map 3

We are done with the maping. We have started painting the oceans. We all held our paint brushes and blue paint. All we had to do was to paint the oceans. Half of us painted the outline first of the countries and others painted whole of the oceans. But it was not as simple as it sounds. Now we realized that a mistake is not reversible, and we had to be even more careful and precise at work. Even a slight extra movement could ruin the outline. Muktanand sir kept monitoring us all the time and taught us the right way. And one coat of paint wasn’t enough, first we did one coat, let it dry, followed by two or three more so that the color of the wall was not seen.

The World Map 2

We had finished all of the grid till now and took our pencils out! We decided that each of us would take one country of his or her choice and draw that first. It was tricky to draw a scale up version of a small map. We used erasers more than our pencils, thanks to Muktanand sir as he gave a helping hand to all of us and helped correcting our mistakes. I drew some thing and then I had to move back to see whether it was good or not. That took some serious time and effort.

The World Map

Stage One : It was CAS time and we had to come up with something new this time, so all the students of my class and our Art teacher and our CAS coordinator sat together to discuss a new activity. We came up with Creativity, we all had decided that we will make a world map on a wall near the school stair case. On the first day itself we printed the world map and marked the points with pencil on the big wall, then made the guiding lines on the wall which were strings soaked in paint. What we had to do was to stretch the string across the wall from point to point and the string would leave its impression on the wall which in our case were straight lines and got our clothes dirty . The guiding lines helped us in scaling up the map from an A4 size sheet to a big wall. It was a tedious job and required control and precision. We somehow managed to finish a little bit.

Vanvasi Ashram visit 7

Today after a long time, we visited the ashram. As decided me and Sandeep sat together to study science. We started to study and I noticed that Sandeep was not in a mood to study, so I decided to take him out of the room where every one were sitting and we sat outside in open. Now I made sure that Sandeep is attentive. We began studying and soon finished with our pending work. We then studied about Sherlock Holmes and read one of his stories," A Scandal in Bohemia." We both enjoyed it. After all this we again went back to science and saw science practicals on the internet. He told that he is now more confident in science than before. After this, all kids sat together and watched short stories of "Mullah Nasruddin."
I will work my level best and help them in their studies, so that they do well!
